Welcome back, Yoo oppa!

Dressed in complete army suit, one of the hottest Korean actors (and my favorite) - Gong Yoo - was discharged from his mandatory military service early today. About 250 fans from Korea and neighboring Asian countries came to welcome him back to civilian life. He gave a short speech to his fans.

"I feel free and wonderful. I'd like to travel, and sleep. I also want to eat my mother’s food."

He then said, "It was difficult physically, but I’ve made memories that I won't ever be able to forget... The letters and presents that many fans continually sent me were a big support."

Oh my! Time surely flies so fast. I didn't notice that two years went by already and that it's time to be with Gong Yoo again. Look at that naughty smile on his face. *melts* I'll definitely see whatever projects he'll be doing. Woot!!!

Wow! That's me after last week's sorrow. Well, that's me. I get to spring back to life. Everything happens for a reason. So when things like that happen, which we all know is inevitable, just accept it. Tutal una-unahan lang naman yan. Life is short and some lives are shorter like my uncle's. So enjoy the moment. :)

I am definitely enjoying Super Junior's third album, especially tracks no. 2 and 7. Track no. 2 is 니가 좋은 이유. It's a bit fast, not like the usual songs I like. However the beat had me liking it. It's like Sorry, Sorry. Words are being repeated.

Track no. 7 is What If of which truly had described all the things I've been feeling the past few weeks. The melancholic voices of YeSung, RyeoWook and KyuHyun tear my heart apart. Unrequited love rips my soul apart.

The illustrator newbie strikes again...

My friend Adam has been teaching me how to draw with Adobe Illustrator. Here are my latest artworks. Presenting JunSu crying over JaeChun.

I drew these originally by hand. But since I was practicing with Adobe Illustrator, I tried drawing them with it. It sure looks nice even though I am not that adept with the program yet. :) So, what can you say about it? I did everything with the Illustrator program. Only the watermarks and eye details were done with CS4.

SME refused to... WTF?!

This is just a delaying tactic by SM Entertainment.

Yes, it will really take quite a long time for SME to provide the courts ALL the documents that pertain to TVXQ profits, but for the meantime, it is not impossible for them to just provide a sample of documents for the courts to validate whether they have properly distributed profit to their talents.

For instance, they can provide the court TVXQ's two most recent activities/profit ventures. The court and its appointed auditor can run tests on it and see whether they have sufficiently and proportionately shared the profits to the boys. Whatever bases they used in that recent profit sharing should be enough for the court to obtain valid judgment. The court will know if the bases they used are correct and legally acceptable. The court will also know whether the basis is constant (which is the legal procedure).

Thus, SME's legal stand on the matter is inexcusable. Their company may be private, but their books should be open to public. Trade secrets will not be revealed by opening their accounting books to public. BUT! Their unacceptable accounting procedures, specifically their procedures in profit sharing, will be revealed and this would only alarm tax authorities and other business governing bodies.

I read that the court has not yet answered SME's appeal re: insufficient time to provide needed documents. I hope that this delay will not prolong TVXQ's hiatus. I know that the boys said that this would not lead to disbanding. But how are they to continue if SME would put them on hold? They could all ask to terminate their contracts with SME. But they can't be TVXQ anymore. Remember that SME has already applied for patent on the TVXQ brand name? Haiz! I think, even if I don't want to, this is going to be a looooong legal battle.

A farewell to a great person...

Goodbye and thank you, Tita Cory.

I am not a Cory-ista, nor politically inclined. But yesterday's farewell to Former President Corazon Aquino had me tearing up and I felt I need to thank her wholeheartedly. Yes, thank you, ma'am, coz I wouldn't be able to live a free life and enjoy it as much as I am doing right now if you were not brave enough to oust the dictator and revised our constitution.

I really don't want to write anything about her demise but I was touched by her life and her sacrifices. Yesterday the whole nation cried and bid goodbye to a great person. Along with the tears and goodbyes, I was able to see the life she had led and how much simple she looked from the time she became public till her last breath. I am amazed as to how a housewife turned the lives of millions of Filipinos. I was further surprised at how great and insurmountable her trials were but she kept her cool and her faith that everything that happened to her have reasons and she faced them all bravely with God as her greatest support and her family as her allies.

I only knew her as Kris Aquino's mom. Yes, no matter how much I have studied about her during my college days, it was the popularity of her daughter and their relationship that made a real mark on me. As said, I am not politically inclined so I really didn't bother much about the things she and her family have done. It was only till yesterday when my family and I watched the televised requiem mass and the funeral procession and all other documentary programs that featured Cory's life that I truly have understood and appreciated her.

I don't have anymore to say than thank you. Thank you, Pres. Cory, for sharing your life with us. Thank you for making the Filipinos proud. Thank you for raising your children with the same values as you have. I am looking forward to seeing the Philippines grow as you have dreamed it to grow. I, in my own little way, will try to live up to your expectation and would value now more than ever the freedom and rights I am granted for being a Filipino.

I seriously like this boy.

Let me make this clear. I don't like him the way I like SiWon. I like KyuHyun as a namdongsaeng, my little-kuku-seriously-cute-power-house-voice baby brother. I watched his and certain SuJu members' (with certain SNSD members) performances in MBC's Music Travel Lalala. I am in awe especially when he sang "Way Back Into Love" (along with DongHae, Jessica and Taeyeon). I swear his English diction is almost perfect. I enjoyed that performance so much. So request to Flist, if you have video copy of that performance please send me. Thanks!

Then there was the Gee acoustic version by SuJu. Again, when it was KyuHyun's time to sing I was all ears and glued to the monitor. I was mesmerized. ♥♥♥

And because I was inspired by KyuHyun I drew him an anime version. Unfortunately it's still a work in progress. It's not yet inked and colored with photoshop. I'll share it later when it's all pretty and colorful. For now just read my infatuated blog entry about him.

HP Movie 6 is a disappointment...

Won Won was fun but...
It's a waste... There were great characters that were not visually justified.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. I swear, if you must, please don't watch book 6 anymore. There were lots of scenes deleted in the movie and the most important details in the story were edited.

Cinematically speaking, the visual effects were good. The attack of the Death Eaters in the muggle world was great. I felt like I was flying with them. Actually I felt dizzy watching that particular scene. But it was still fun. Watching the quidditch game scene was also fun. Ron was fun to watch.

Sadly the savage look of Fenrir Grayback was not fully met in my standards of a savage looking werewolf wizard. Darn! He looked like hairy Hell Boy in the movie. Bellatrix LeStrange was fine but she was more of a lunatic than a wicked witch.

Teenager Tom Riddle looked gay. He does. Hahaha! Professor Slughorn was boring instead of a extravagant old man as JK had described him in the book.

Harry and Ginny's love story was not elaborated. She just suddenly liked him and vice versa. No depth at all. Most importantly, the genius half blood prince and his clever spells in his old potion book were not given details in the movie. So why call it HP & the Half Blood Prince? Why not call the movie HP and the whatnots of book 6? Really... It was not that amazing. If I didn't read the book beforehand I swear I would have had a gazillion question after the watching it. Fortunately I read the book and could still remember certain details about it that the movie wasn't able to emphasize.

Hay! I hope book 7 would exceed expectations. Although the ending was kind of lacking, the great part of book 7 was good and was such a revelation.

Other movies to look forward to. Walt Disney's UP is going to be shown on August 19. So, this is already penciled in my journal. I've been looking forward to seeing this all summer. I thought it was a world premier...

Then, there is the romance comedy movie The Proposal, which stars Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds. I like Sandra. I watched most of her movies. I love Ryan Reynolds. He's hilarious and HOT! I saw him first in the sitcom Two Guys, A Girl and A Pizza Place. He was a bit dumb there but he made it up with his good looks and sexy body.

G.I. Joe is next on the list. I grew up watching the animation series. My cousin had action figures of the characters. I am watching this coz of Lee ByungHun. I heard him speak in English and it made me smile. His intonation was cute. Not much of the Korean accent. His accent is just cute.

There are other movie previews I saw but I forgot their titles... Anyway, until here. I need to do other stuffs.

Wu Yeh Hsien
Chinese Cinderella.

So Cinderella is of Chinese descent. I rarely watch Discovery Channel for the simple reason that facts and documentaries aren't fun for me and they make me sleepy. Hahaha! But last Saturday I was glued to the TV watching a Chinese documentary, re-tracing the origins of the Cinderella story. One Chinese girl did the documentary and went to the far provinces of China to interview tribe leaders, storytellers and historians. Apparently, Cinderella isn't Caucasian and that there was no fairy godmother. Instead, she has a magical fishbone that granted her wishes.

According to the docu, the story of Cinderella was first written in a book during the Tang Dynasty (which was earlier than the one written in the European version). It was included in a journal and story book entitled You Yang Za Zu.

The story was about an orphan girl named Wu Yeh Hsien and like Cinderella she had an evil stepmother and an ugly and equally evil stepsister. Her only happiness was her pet fish, which her stepmom took away from her and ate. (Murderer!)

Saddened, Yeh Hsien took the bones of her pet and gave it a proper burial. Unknown to her, it wasn't the bones of her pet but of a magical fish. In return to Yeh Hsien's kindness, the fish answered her prayers.

Then instead of the prince's ball, Yeh Hsien wished to attend the annual mating festival of their tribe. (One of the tribes in South China holds an annual mating festival to let the single and unmarried members of their community mingle and get to know potential partners.) Anyway, so the magical fish bone gave her a black skirt embroidered with golden patterns, a blue blouse with feather ornaments and a golden pair of shoes made of silk that fit perfectly to Yeh Hsien's small feet.

Yeh Hsien enjoyed the festival. But to avoid being discovered by her stepsister, she fled away from the party and ran towards home. In haste, she lost one of her golden shoes, which a prince from a neighboring tribe found and had devoted his days to finding the owner then marry her. The prince thought that only a fair maiden with a good character could wear and own such a delicate pair of shoes.

The documentary enumerated the following as proofs that the Cinderella story was indeed a Chinese tale:

01. The elaborate description of Yeh Hsien's dress is the same as one of the dresses of a tribeswoman in South China.

02. The magical fish instead of a fairy godmother is another proof that she is Chinese (in Chinese culture, fish brings good luck).

03. Moreover, the small shoes that could only fit the protagonist's feet indicated that she is Chinese. Where in the world can you see a grown woman with small feet other than in old China, where bound feet were signs of beauty and high social status.

04. Furthermore, an expert in Asian history was interviewed whether it is possible that the documented story of Wu Yeh Hsien could have gone out of China and went to its neighboring countries and as far reaching as the European countries. The expert replied a resounding yes. According to her the written story might have gone through the silk road (the trading path from China to India, South East Asia and to Europe).

The expert showed an evidence of how might the story gone from China to Europe. As we all know, paper originated in China. Apparently, China was also the first to recycle paper in the olden days. They recycled used papers and used them as shoe soles. The expert showed a photograph of an old and used paper that were used as shoe soles in the old days. The paper have scripts and the language used were from old China. They have concluded that this might be one of the ways that the story had gone out of China. Another is by word of the mouth, of course. But the first evidence was more convincing, right? Otherwise, they wouldn't have shown it. Hihihi ^^,

Upon reaching the western countries, the people there adapted the story and created their own version of Yeh Hsien and called her Cinderella with a head full of golden brown hair, doe eyes, orphaned by her noble father and was left to the aide of her evil stepmother and ugly stepsisters. Then, to make it more westernized, instead of a magical fish, they used a fairy to grant her wish to attend a prince's ball. And instead of a golden pair of shoes made of silk, the fairy provided her a pair of glass slippers that only Cinderella's feet can wear. Then to make the fairy tale more grandiose, the western storytellers added a coach made of pumpkin, horses that were once mice and other fantastical things. The midnight time limit added more excitement to a simple story that concerns only good values and that every good deed gets tremendous rewards.

So what did I learn from watching the documentary? Well, plagiarism existed already in the olden days. Hahaha! I really don't know if I learned something. One thing is for sure though, I might start watching more programs from the Discovery Channel. I didn't know that it's entertaining. ^_^

Kim HeeChul. This boy is the first SuJu member I liked. He has a funny, sometimes narcissistic personality (he loves himself so much). Hahaha!

At times, I thought he's effeminate especially when I learned that he's been kissing men on stage. His very first onstage kiss was kind of torrid and when I saw it I really thought he's gay. Hahaha! Coz in concerts no one really does that kind of thing. Only in movies really.

Then he started kissing his SuJu members of which I thought: boy, you're molesting your members. ^^~

And he had truly got into my nerves when he kissed SiWon! If I could stamp my feet, I would've. I lay low from liking him because of that... (SiWon's mine! *smacks self*)

Until...

The past month was all about Super Junior for me. I watched Come to Play and Intimate Note episodes. These two programs hooked me up with Kim HeeChul again. I saw his funny and adorable side again. And so, to commemorate my renewed liking to him, here's my chibi version of Kim HeeChul when he performed with SuJu at Music Core...

What can you say? Isn't it cute? As cute as Kim HeeChul himself, don't you agree?

In other news... Kris Allen beat Adam Lambert. T.T Sad... I was routing for Adam and I thought his performance last night was better than the dark horse. *shakes head* America, that's full of crap! (I apologize to Kris Allen's fans. I am just hurting for Adam right now.)

Okay, I said I am going to create a JaeJoong layout. I did. I promised I'd make several headers for it. Unfortunately, I am losing creativity right now. I am getting sleepy. So instead of making several banners, I just created two layouts - a green version and a purple version. Well, there are actually 3 versions, the blue one is what I am using. ^_^
